Pilar Ortiz-Diaz

Pilar Ortiz-Diaz is a third-year undergraduate student at the Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts at The New School. Pilar is studying Global Studies with a minor in Journalism and Design, incorporating the intersection of Urban Studies and Environmental Studies in the field of International Affairs. Her diverse studies rely on the utilization of a systems thinking approach to address social issues that require solutions that target root causes. Pilar has attended a number of community service-based travel trips, where she was exposed to language, immersed in the culture, and participated in community service. These programs have included travel to Cuba, Peru, and China. Pilar’s research experience is focused on Food Systems in Cuba, Migration, and Youth, Colonialism, and Religion in Puerto Rico, and Platform Capitalism and Workers Rights in New York City. Pilar has a deep passion for social justice and social impact and she is looking forward to gaining career experience with Global Knowledge Initiative.
